Homemade Ginger Tea
I love hot drinks! Coffee and tea are staples for me year round and I have my own little “coffee corner” in the kitchen with a whole drawer devoted to my variety of teas!
I don’t remember when it was that I started drinking coffee, but I must have been pretty young. I did not drink it on a regular basis but I remember going to my grandma’s house for a week of “Girls Camp” with my girl cousins and enjoying small mugs of coffee with shocking amounts of hazelnut creamer! Fast forward to 14 years old and I remember getting my coffee every sunday at church before the service started. I would have friendly adults joke that I better be careful or it would stunt my growth which I would then reply “It hasn’t happened yet!” (I am 5’11 and 1/2 and finished growing at 15.)
I didn’t really start drinking tea until I got married in 2013. Andrew and I were trying to live as cheap as possible and our thermostat proved it! During the winter, sitting with a blanket and a cup of coffee was my number one way of warming up, however, over time I started to feel constantly dehydrated and decided to give tea a try instead! Thus began my love for tea too!
Yesterday, I felt like a hot cup of tea, but also wanted something a little different so I decided to experiment and make my own!

Ginger has long been known for it’s aid in digestion and help with nausea. But it has also been found to help with inflammation, pain, cold and flu relief and cardiovascular health! Besides all these wonderful benefits, I actually like the taste when mixed with something sweet!
Like ginger, cinnamon has many of the same health benefits (anti-inflammatory, digestion, cardiovascular support) along with aiding in bacterial and fungal infections! Studies even suggest that cinnamon can have a positive effect in helping the body fight cancer!
Honey is also a great ingredient that aids in digestion, bacterial and fungal infections, and is also helpful for sore throats!
Along with adding flavor, Lemon oil is very good for cleansing and digestion which makes it a great addition to this beneficial tea! (I now purchase all my essential oils from Young Living.)
This homemade tea was super easy and super delicious! I love the spice of ginger and cinnamon combined with the sweetness of honey and slight tartness of the lemon!
Give it a try and tell me if you liked it!
