2018- The Year I Became a Mom

2018 will forever hold a very special place in my heart and will in no doubt be one of my all time favorites! I’ve been blessed and have had many wonderful years (more good than bad for sure) but no other year have I had the privilege of giving birth to a son and fulfilling my life long desire to become a mom!

I feel like I’m having a harder time of letting go of this previous year with all it’s memories and embracing this new one! I believe part of that is due to the fact that 2018 was such an amazing and special year for us and I don’t feel like it can ever be topped! We started out last year with the birth of our son (after waiting and loss) which brought about a season of such pure joy, peace, and “recovery” for our hearts. Tobias has such a happy, outgoing personality and this entire year has been filled with memories of his sweet smiles deep giggles and innocent babblings. How can a year like that be beat?!

However, each of Tobias’ new milestones bring more fun and excitement, and I’m sure that 2019 will bring even more smiles, giggles, memories and many, many more blessed times!

Here are some highlights from 2018!

January 9th we became parents to the sweetest little boy!

Summer with Tobias was so much fun! Introducing him to my grandparents’ farm, the animals, and the outdoors was a huge highlight for me!

Along with all the familiar faces on the farm, we got to introduce him to a new one this year! Our female donkey surprised us with a little girl (Elly Mae) in May!

After not being able to ride while being pregnant and then having a newborn, picking up my favorite hobby again was very exciting!

And we were able to introduce this pastime of ours to Tobias! (Or at least simply sitting on the horses) 😉

We took a family vacation to Destin, Florida with my husband’s family and we all really enjoyed it! The busy beach, waves, noise, bright sun, and heat were all a lot to take in at first, but Tobias grew to like it and I’m looking forward to taking him again someday!

My amazing husband surprised me with a huge kitchen island for my birthday! Not only is it such a beautiful piece of work, but the time, effort and thought that he put into it makes it a special possession which I’ll treasure forever!

In October Andrew’s sister, Sarah, got married and all three of us were privileged to be in the wedding!

I’ve never been one to plan or think ahead well so it’s no surprise that Halloween day came and we still didn’t have a costume for Tobias’ first Halloween! But with Andrew’s crafty skills and some clothes we already had, we scraped up a quick costume and ta-da! We had the cutest lumber jack there ever was!

In November, I was able to join my sister, cousin, and some other amazing ladies in the Bass Pro Marathon Relay! I hadn’t been running in forever partly due to issues with my knee, but they were kind and gave me the shortest available leg of the race (5K)! I had such an amazing time spending this freezing day cheering each other on!

Here is a picture of Tobias and our Newfoundland dog Odin over Thanksgiving. Their friendship has really started to grow more and more and often times you will find Tobias crawling all over Odin and trying to get a ride!

After much thought, hesitation, and doubt, I decided to go ahead and start my blog! I talk more about why I hesitated in taking this leap in my first post (titled “Welcome”) but I must say that despite the work, hours, and confusion it has caused this computer not-so- savvy girl, I have really enjoyed this creative outlet! I’m looking forward to diving deeper into it in 2019 as I continue to learn and grow on this journey of blogging!

Andrew and I have continued to make an effort to have occasional rides! These riding dates are definitely some of my highlights for sure!

Decorating the house and putting up the tree and lights were especially fun this year as we watched Tobias’ curiosity turn into wonder! He cooed and pointed at the lights and was mesmerized by the little train in our Christmas village!

There are so many more memories and pictures I could share but these are the ones that stick out to me the most at the moment! It has been such a wonderful year and I’m getting more and more excited to see what 2019 has in store!

“For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.” -Psalm 100:5

Thanks for sticking with me as I reminisce over this past year! Hope yours was good with a great one ahead!
